Last Lyrical Blessing - Interview

HiPipo.com meets a new and talented female rapper called Last Lyrical Blessing (LLB). Get to know more about her life, music career and future prospects.

HiPipo.com: Who are you?

LLB: My name is Jacqueline Namugerwa. My stage name is Last Lyrical Blessing aka LLB. I was born in Masaka and raised from Kireka; a suburb of Kampala district. I was born in a family of 7 girls, one boy and raised by single mother.

I was born in a catholic family but later converted to Pentecostal faith before converting to Pantheism. Today, I am a Pantheist (The belief that God and the material world are one and the same thing and that God is present in everything).

HiPipo.com: What do you do?

LLB: I am one of the hottest female rappers in the area. I am a Rastafarian who does Hip-Hop. I am also employed by Uganda performing rights society where I am a board representative standing up for all female musicians in Uganda. I also work for Uganda musicians union. All through, I am working on promoting copyright respect in the industry.

I am signed to Hyve records; a record label that promotes Hip-hop and other music genres in the country.

HiPipo.com: Tell us about your education

LLB: I attended several schools including Nsambya girls, Lubiiri secondary and Katikamu. Today, I am pursuing a course in mechanical engineering at Kyambogo University.

HiPipo.com: When did you start doing music and what do you have so far?

LLB: I started doing rap during my time at Rubaga miracle centre. I did break dance and later joined the ‘WOGS’ (witnesses of god’s salvation). I started doing freestyle Godly lyrics in church.

I later moved from doing only church songs to secular music. At the moment, I am working on my first album which is soon to be released and videos are being shot for all the killer jams on the album.

I am naming the album Last lyrical blessing so as the public can get to grasp the fact that a star is being born. So far I have songs such as Swag Back, Me No Playa, Owino Shopper, Ndiwagulu feat Coco Finger, Dro, Didi and Woods, Queen wa Street, Kyatule feat Gift of Kaddo, Victorious feat Mezaya, Forgotten feat Woods, and Victorious feat Young Nic, Jackie Chandiru and Keko.

HiPipo.com: Who inspires you?

LLB: I am inspired by Lauryn Hill. The fact that she may not release any albums for a long time and she is all quiet but still she remains that female mc who will never be toppled/ challenged makes her undefeated. She is a class apart. I want to be like her. She inspires me a lot. I like her flow, her lyrics got good message and yes..... She got it all.

HiPipo.com: What are your future prospects?

LLB: Going international, putting female Mcs from east Africa on the international music scene. I guess we’ve been quiet for far too long. We need to show the world what we got and if that be through me then be it.

HiPipo.com: Which musicians do you look up to in Uganda and outside Uganda?

LLB: In Uganda, I like Atlas, Bobi Wine, Joanita Kawalya, Afrigo Band, Irene Namubiru, and Mr Wind.

Internationally, I look at Tupac, Notorious BIG, Ice Cube, Ludacris, Mavado, Jay Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, and Amy Winehouse among others.

To my fans; keep the support coming. To all music lovers; get ready to receive me. I am Last Lyrical Blessing aka LLB, straight from Hyve records.
